I was delighted to see and hear from so many of our parents at the joint Board of Education /Board of Selectmen meeting on Wednesday evening, following the Town’s budget vote. The fervent support for our schools and the passionate appeals from so many help us all understand how important it is for the townspeople to be engaged and involved in this democratic process. As I said on Wednesday evening, I remain committed to working together with our elected officials to ensure that Portland Schools have what we need in the coming year. Portland has always provided for its schools and children and I have no doubt that Portland will continue to do so at our next referendum on Wednesday, May 29th.
This week, the faculty and staff from Brownstone Intermediate School convened at Quarry Ridge Country Club to recognize and celebrate the career of Beverly Wilson. On behalf of the entire community, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Wilson for her remarkable career. Her work with and on behalf of countless Portland students typifies our amazing group of devoted educators. I wish her a long, healthy, and happy retirement filled with family, friends, and time to pursue her love of literature and the arts.
I also congratulate and convey my hopeful wishes to our Portland Baseball team members as they continue their remarkably successful season and begin post-season play on Monday afternoon. Join us at PHS (4:00PM) for the Home Quarterfinal game of our #1ranked Highlanders against #8 Hale Ray!
