I was happy to attend each of the three Open Houses events held this week where many of you visited the classrooms, met the teachers, and learned about the educational opportunities that are ahead for our students. I was happy speaking with many of you and thoroughly enjoyed the teacher presentations I joined. I thought they provided thorough details around the district’s instructional goals and expressed how our school-home partnership is an integral component in the life of a child. The positive energy in the schools during these evenings should serve as a solid foundation for the 2016-17 school year.
Thanks to a parent inquiry this week, I emailed home the results from the Spring 2016 Family Survey. These are district-wide survey results from 446 respondents who took our survey in the spring before school ended. (By the way, these were shared with the BOE in June.)
I am pleased with the number of parents who responded and I am pleased with the outcomes. While most of the responses were very favorable, we acknowledge the work we have in a few areas. Let me assure you that the administrative team will work with members of each school’s Climate Team to both address our challenges and to sustain the successes we have achieved.
We will continue to survey parents each spring and to encourage all our parents/guardians to participate. We do look forward to this mechanism for feedback. If you are interested in building specific family survey results, please reach out to your child’s principal.
